Pet Food Pre-Shipment Inspection Checklist for Buyers
Plan agreed checks for pet food identity, packaging, sampling and shipment documents before export.
By Hengchuan Import & Export
Agree the inspection scope before production
An inspection needs an agreed specification and acceptance criteria. Tell Hengchuan whether you need factory access, in-process checks, sampling, laboratory tests or a third-party pre-shipment inspection. These services have different scopes.
- Selected products, quantities and approved specification
- Who performs the inspection and who receives the report
- Timing, sampling method, costs and acceptance criteria
Check identity and packaging against the order
The inspection should compare the goods with the approved order and artwork. Record findings and resolve discrepancies before authorizing shipment.
- Product reference, pack size and quantities
- Label language, artwork version and batch information
- Packaging integrity, carton markings and visible damage
Keep laboratory testing distinct from visual checks
A visual inspection cannot establish nutrient values or microbiological safety. When tests are required, agree suitable methods, sampling arrangements and a laboratory capable of the requested work.
- Required test parameters and methods
- Sample identification and handling
- Report timing and agreed response to nonconforming results
Review shipment documents with the responsible parties
Check product descriptions, quantities, packaging and shipment details across the agreed documents. Relevant certificates and destination requirements must be reviewed for the specific product; an inspection report is not an import approval.
- Invoice and packing list consistency
- Transport details and agreed trade terms
- Product and manufacturer documents requested by the importer or broker
